Sparring

November 12, 2021

Sparring is a TKD essential. It’s basically fighting, but in a controlled environment with rules and protective gear. You’ll wear chest gear, arm gear, leg gear, a helmet, and mouthguard. The rules are simple. Kick or punch the opponent’s chest gear -or helmet if you are allowed to do headshots (we are not at EFT), don’t go out of the ring, never cheat, and many more. I personally don’t like sparring as much as forms, but it is still a fun thing to do and it’s a good workout. Some of my friends like sparring better than forms.  There is an elite sparring class if you want to be a part of it and have a high enough belt. Maybe in the future there will be a sparring team. Master Houman teaches sparring very well, making it easy to understand. He speaks clearly and explains what you should do to beat your opponent while protecting yourself. Sparring also helps you learn self-defense.  Thanks for reading! Bye!

That’s me trying to land a kick on my opponent’s chest gear.
Master Houman starts the round and gives us tips and encouragement while we spar.
