I got my blackbelt on Saturday! I don’t have the actual belt yet, but I am still a black belt. My new belt will have my name on it and one yellow stripe for first degree black belt. It will be a half black, half red Poom belt until I turn 16, but it is the same level as an actual black belt. Master Houman said that the testing was just a final show of all the seminars we attended, so I guess the seminars were part of the testing, too. It was hard, but also fun. We did board breaking, sparring, kicks, hand techniques, forms, and fitness. My favorite part was the board breaking, but everything else was good, too. There were three other people testing with me and they got their black belt, 2nd-degree black belt, and their 3rd-degree black belt. Afterwards, I felt so proud of myself and it gave me the feeling of accomplishment. The journey to get to black belt was long and hard, but it was worth it. I plan to keep going in taekwondo, because black belt is not the end, it is the beginning of something new. So keep reading – there is more to come!

Congratulations Alex! What a great acknowledgement and I really look forward to the next steps in Taekwondo. I am so proud of you!
Love you,
Mimi
